What we do
At Claire Louise Photography, we create honest, authentic photography & videography that tells the stories of people, businesses and communities across the North East.
We specialise in documentary and environmental portrait photography, capturing real moments, genuine connections and the personalities that make every story unique. Whether we're photographing a local business owner, an artist at work, a community project, a live event or creating portraits on location, our focus is always the same – producing images with meaning.
Our approach is relaxed and natural. We believe the best photographs happen when people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves. Rather than forcing poses, we work with you to create images that feel authentic, engaging and timeless.
Alongside commercial and editorial commissions, we also photograph events, celebrations and personal milestones, bringing the same documentary approach to every assignment.
Every photograph is created with care, creativity and a genuine passion for storytelling.

-
I’m based in Sunderland and provide photography and videography across the North East, including Newcastle, Durham, Northumberland and the surrounding areas. I’m also happy to travel further afield for the right project, so if you’re planning an event or shoot outside the North East, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
-
I specialise in documentary-led photography, including events, environmental portraits, commercial photography and documentary projects. My approach focuses on capturing genuine moments, people and atmosphere rather than overly staged images. I work with individuals, businesses, organisations and event organisers across Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham and the wider North East.
-
Documentary photography is about capturing people, places and events naturally as they happen. Rather than directing every photograph or relying heavily on posed shots, I observe what is happening and look for genuine moments, interactions and details that tell the story. It creates photographs that feel authentic and give a real sense of the people and atmosphere involved.
-
My photography is relaxed, natural and documentary-led. I prefer genuine expressions and interactions to heavily posed or staged photographs, while still offering direction when it’s helpful. Whether I’m photographing an event, portrait session, business or wedding, my aim is to create strong, considered images that still feel honest and natural.
-
Yes. Alongside photography, I offer videography for events, businesses, creative projects and other commissions. Photography and video can also be combined where appropriate, giving you a mixture of still images and moving footage from the same project. Get in touch with some details about what you need and I can recommend the most suitable approach.
-
Prices vary depending on the type of photography, the length of coverage, location and what you need from the shoot. I offer options for events, headshots, portraits, commercial photography and weddings, with pricing designed around different levels of coverage. You can view my current guideline prices on the Pricelist page and contact me for an obligation free quote tailored to your project.
-
It’s always worth booking as early as possible, particularly for weddings, events and dates during busy periods. However, I can often accommodate shoots at shorter notice. If you already have a date in mind, get in touch and I’ll let you know my availability.
-
Turnaround times depend on the type and size of the shoot, as every final image is individually selected and edited. I’ll give you an expected delivery time when you book, and if you need photographs quickly for press, social media or an event announcement, let me know when you enquire so we can discuss what’s possible.
-
Your finished photographs are supplied digitally in high resolution through a download service, making it easy to view, download and share your images. If delivery on a USB drive is required this can also be arranged.
-
The easiest way to book is to get in touch through my website contact page with a few details about what you’re looking for, where the shoot or event will take place and any dates you have in mind. I’ll then discuss your requirements, confirm availability and provide the appropriate pricing or quote before your booking is confirmed.
-
Our standard process is to take a non refundable booking fee at the time of booking to ensure the date is secured for your shoot with the remainder due one month before the shoot. If the shoot is less than one month away we require full payment upon booking.
